Plant the seed, watch it grow...

Kim has always been one willing to take risks in order to make her dreams come true. Kim first visited Hawai’i in 2004, when her best friend invited her there on her family vacation. Kim's experience in Hawai’i changed her life as she knew it. Never had she felt such a strong, loving, and deep connection to a place she visited before. The spirit of Aloha stayed with her as she returned home and started her first year of college at SUNY Oneonta. With a burning desire to move to Hawai’i, she decided to apply to transfer to the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Upon acceptance to UH in 2005, she bid her family and friends farewell and hopped on a plane to start her life in Hawai’i. It was in Hawai’i where Kim really began to develop into the person she is today. Her passion for holistic living started there.  The spirit of Aloha took over her mind body and soul. She began regularly practicing yoga in Hawai’i, discovering this to be her next big love. A transformation took place as she fell in love with yoga and all of its amazing benefits.

Kim's love of Hawai'i and yoga remained when she moved back to New York in 2009.  She "work-studied" at a yoga studio until she decided it was time to start teaching herself.  In 2010, she  received her 200-hour RYT certification in Elmsford, NY under Jimmy Barkan.  A year later, she continued her yoga education with "The Barkan Method Hot Vinyasa Flow," in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, recieving an additional 80 hours.  Since then, Kimberly has also trained with well-known yogis Seane Corn at Kripalu, and Baron Baptiste in Boston.  Yoga is such an amazing healing modality, but Kim wanted to delve even deeper into the realms of healing, and so she received her Reiki I & II certification with Reiki Master Maria Kramer in 2011.

A two-week trip to Hawai'i in January of 2012 almost brought her back there for good, but days after returning home, she met the love of her life (now husband) and knew he was worth staying in New York for.  She then attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and received her Health Coach certification in 2013.  Kimberly had been interested in Ayurveda since her days in Hawai'i, so she took a 150 hour Ayurveda course with Dr. Naina at Ayurveda's World in NYC to acquire certification as an AADP credited Ayurvedic Nutrition Counselor in 2013 as well.  Kim has also studied Shamanism with teacher Denise Guerringue.

Kim's library of yoga, healing, and spiritual books is continuously growing, and she is self taught in working with crystals to compliment healing. She also is a lover of Oracle Cards and uses them to guide herself and others on their path.  Kim has a deep connection to nature and the cycles of the moon, and will often use their wisdom in her teachings.  Having received her bachelor's degree from University of Hawai'i in "English/Creative Writing", she also loves any and all forms of creative writing, and uses that skill to write her own meditations to share in yoga class. Kim has used a combination of Yoga, Reiki, Ayurveda, Crystals, Oracle Cards and Writing to conquer her own personal demons over the years.  Despite all the blessings she received on her life journey, she has also suffered from dis-ease on all levels (physical, emotional and spiritual).  Life has it's ups and downs, but she has been able to heal herself through the down times using the aforementioned modalities.  She has hurdled obstacles that she had thought were impossible to overcome.

It has always been a dream of Kim's to open her own yoga & healing space, where she can share all of this incredible and beneficial knowledge that has helped her, so that she can support other people on their healing journey.  She has realized that self-love and forgiveness are perhaps two of the most important factors that bring about healing.  Her intention is to awaken unconditional love, healing and aloha within every person that enters Aloha Yoga & Healing.  Thank you for making that dream come true.  Namaste.
